Paulina Chávez Reflects on Corpus Christi and Collaborations
In a recent interview, Landman star Paulina Chávez shared her deep connection to Corpus Christi and her experiences working alongside Hollywood legends.
Roots in South Texas
Paulina Chávez, born in El Paso and raised in San Antonio, has fond memories of visiting Corpus Christi during her childhood. She frequently traveled to the coast with family friends, often stopping by the Selena Museum and enjoying the beach.
Reflecting on these experiences, Chávez noted, “I mean I just have so many fond memories of going to the beach over there.” She hopes that in future seasons of Landman, they might film some scenes in Corpus Christi, adding another layer to her personal connection with the area.
Working with Industry Veterans
Chávez expressed gratitude for her opportunity to work alongside stars like Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore. She described this experience as surreal, stating, “I’m still pinching myself.”
“I think the most beautiful thing about working with these legends is just seeing how down to earth they are,” she shared. “I’ve mostly worked with Billy Bob [Thornton], and he is such an inspiration… He’s such a kind soul.” Chávez learned valuable lessons about resilience and humility from these encounters.
Fashion Collaborations
Chávez’s connection to her South Texas roots extends beyond her personal memories; it also includes her collaboration with Coastal Bend native, Nico, a designer renowned for his brand, Don Nico. The two artists connected on Instagram, bonding over their shared appreciation for Tejano couture.
Chávez wore one of Nico’s designs at the season two premiere of Landman and later took part in his latest runway show in San Antonio. Both have expressed excitement about their partnership, with Chávez revealing, “Nico is now just such a dear friend of mine… I hope to always work with him-it’s definitely a relationship that we’re going to have for many, many years.”
Nico emphasized the importance of collaboration in his designs, stating, “It’s really important for me to not only be a designer who is aware of what clothing can do but to be open to be a collaborator.”
Education and Community Impact
Chávez also launched the “Be Your Own Kind of Genius” scholarship project, inspired by her sister’s graduation in civil engineering. Seeing a lack of representation of intelligent Latinas in media, she created this initiative to support students pursuing higher education.
“It’s very much eye-opening how there are so many intelligent Latinas, Latinos who are changing the world and really making their mark,” she stated. This scholarship is currently available for San Antonio-area students, with hopes to expand its reach in the future.
Looking Ahead
As the buzz around Landman continues, the show has officially been renewed for a third season, leaving fans curious about what comes next. Though details about Chávez’s next role remain under wraps, her dedication to her craft and community shines through in her interviews, making her a figure to watch in the entertainment industry.
