The winter transfer window for top European leagues is coming to a close on February 2, 2026, offering clubs a final opportunity to make significant roster changes before the upcoming 2026 World Cup. Despite a quieter transfer window, late deals could still impact the course of the season.
Closing Times
Most major European leagues will conclude their transfer activities at the same time. Here’s the schedule:
- 🇮🇹 Serie A: 2 p.m. ET
- 🏴 Premier League: 2 p.m. ET
- 🇩🇪 Bundesliga: 2 p.m. ET
- 🇪🇸 LaLiga: 11:59 p.m. ET
- 🇫🇷 Ligue 1: 2 p.m. ET
- 🏴 Scottish Premiership: 11:59 p.m. ET
Free Agents and Loan Deals
While the transfer window is closing, free agents will still have a chance to sign with new clubs after the deadlines. However, teams must submit their rosters by February 5, meaning agreements need to be finalized beforehand for players to participate in the latter part of the season. In addition, Premier League teams are restricted to two domestic loans and a total of four loans throughout the season.
Extra Time for Official Deals
Clubs will have a brief window to finalize deals after the official deadline. If teams submit a “deal sheet” prior to the cutoff, they will receive an additional two hours for paperwork related to domestic transfers in the English Premier League and EFL. International transactions, however, must be completed through the FIFA Transfer Matching System.
