5-Ingredient Pasta Bake

A 5-ingredient pasta bake that feeds 6 for under $12. Pantry staples, 35 minutes, and freezes well.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound penne or rotini pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20
  • 1 24-ounce jar marinara sauce
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Bring large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Brown ground beef in skillet, breaking into small pieces. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease.
  3. Cook pasta 2 minutes less than package time. Drain.
  4. Stir beef and marinara into pasta. Layer half in 9x13 dish, top with half the mozzarella, add remaining pasta, top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Bake uncovered 20 minutes until cheese is golden and edges bubble.
