Slow Cooker Pulled Pork (3-Ingredient)

Tender slow cooker pulled pork using just pork shoulder, root beer, and BBQ rub. 8 hours of hands-off cooking, freezes for 3 months.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 pound bone-in pork shoulder fat cap on top
  • 1 12-ounce can root beer
  • 3 tablespoons BBQ rub or 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce

Method
 

  1. Pat pork shoulder dry. Rub BBQ spice mix over entire surface.
  2. Place pork fat-cap-up in slow cooker. Pour root beer around meat. Cover and cook LOW 8 to 10 hours.
  3. Remove pork to bowl. Discard bone and large fat pieces. Shred with two forks.
  4. Return shredded meat to slow cooker with half the cooking liquid and BBQ sauce. Stir and rest 15 minutes.
